As a means of diversion from the Civil War, many young men who left their homes to join the cause became exposed to gambling. Join this fundraising event for the Friends of the Library on Friday, April 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the McArthur VFW Hall Post 5299, as you are given a nostalgic visit to the 1860s, complete with games, such as roulette, blackjack, poker, along with food, a cash bar, and music provided by Dan Daly and the Sodbusters. Period costumes are encouraged but not required.Tickets will be on sale at the library and at the door. Admission is $5.00.
