Amber Brooks will present a live demonstration about garment creation in southeastern Ohio during the late 19th century in the library's meeting room on Wednesday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m. Amber is a senior at Ohio University, earning her B.S.S. in Historic Costume and American History. She interned at Colonial Williamsburg in the Margaret Hunter Millinery Shop making period correct 18th century gowns, hats, and accessories, while educating the public through historic interpretation on a daily basis. She has been offering presentations on Civil War clothing for seven years and is currently collaborating with the Athens County Historical Society. This program is offered in preparation for the 2013 Spring Literary Arts Festival -- "North and South: A House Divided," commemorating the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War.
